Ubuntu 13.04 Named ‘Raring Ringtail’

Ubuntu 13.04 has been given its codename by Ubuntu found mark Shuttleworth. And despite many excellent community guesses - thought most we saw seemed to involve the words 'rabid' and 'rabbit' (!) - 13.04 is nicknamed the 'Raring Ringtail'.

Canonical Work to Improve Gaming on Ubuntu

Canonical's Bryce Harrington has spoken about efforts Canonical are making to provide Ubuntu users with a first-class gaming experience. As an Ubuntu Desktop team member, as well as the maintainer of X.org, Harrington has played a key role in prepping Ubuntu for the arrival of games distribution service Steam and its troop of freshly ported Linux gaming titles, as well as enhancing the experience of existing games from the links of Unity3D and The Humble Indie Bundle.

Official Ubuntu One App for Mac Enters Beta

A beta build of Ubuntu One for OS X has been released by the Ubuntu One team. The team say that the client will 'give all users regardless of platform, access to all the great benefits of Ubuntu One." Its' release means that all three major desktop OSes are now able to use Ubuntu One.

Canonical have today launched a new 'contributions' page through which users can donate money to the Ubuntu project. Canonical say that the initiative will help people '..choose to financially support different aspects of Canonical's work, from gaming and app, desktop, phone and tablet, to co-ordination of upstreams or supporting Ubuntu flavours."
