Ubuntu 13.04 Adds New Launcher Options

New options have been added to the Appearance Settings pane in Ubuntu 13.04. With a click you can now disable the 'Workspace Switcher' item, used to navigate between the four workspaces Ubuntu provides by default.

LightWorks for Linux Opens Alpha Access For Limited Time

Access to the Linux version of professional-grade video editor Lightworks has been widened today - but only for a 2 hour window. Lightworks saw a limited Linux Alpha release back in October of last year, much to the disappointment of many. Describing that initial Alpha test period as 'extremely successful', Lightworks are moving forward again with a new alpha testing period. This, they say, is ahead of public beta release scheduled for early spring.

Steam-Powered Mini-PC Gets Detailed At CES

It might not be the strongly-rumoured Steambox games console itself, but on the floor of the Consumer Electronics Show 2013 a physical prototype of a Steam-powered mini-PC has been on show. Valve have teamed up with hardware vendor Xi3 to build a modular, miniature PC, which is currently code-named 'Piston'.

Adobe Are Not Giving Photoshop Away Afterall…

Earlier today we brought word that Adobe's CS2 suite of apps were, rather suddenly, free to download and install. It now transpires that we were misinformed. Adobe employee Dov Isaacs took to the Adobe forum earlier this evening to say that Adobe are 'absolutely not' giving away free copies of Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2 or any other part of the Adobe Creative Suite - CS2 or otherwise.

Ubuntu Phone Download, Source Will Arrive ‘February’

An installable image of Ubuntu for the Galaxy Nexus handset will be released 'late February', Canonical's Alan Pope has said. The Galaxy Nexus is the main device currently used by Canonical for demoing the OS, which boasts a touch-centric version of the Unity interface. At last weeks press event unveiling the device, Mark Shuttleworth had said that an image would be available 'in the coming weeks'.
