Linux racing game ‘Speed Dreams 2.0’ hits third alpha

The third alpha release of racing simulator 'Speed Dreams' version 2.0 has been made available for testing. This latest update to the fork of famous racing game Torcs sees new cars and tracks available, as well as improvements to the physics and 'visual realism' of the game.

Opera gets some Unity love; tab badge, quicklists and more

With Ubuntu Unity-specific support being lavished upon Chromium and Firefox 4 it wasn't going to be long before Opera - the oft overlooked web browser which a healthy 5% of OMG! readers use - received some due love and attention. Opera user/fan/developer Kyle Baker - whose Opera themes and tips we've featured before - has written a 'Unity script' for the browser that adds in some Unity specific love including a tab count to the Launcher icon, right-click quicklists to your Opera speed dial entries and support for Unity's "urgency" alerts.

Chromium Daily build adds Unity Quicklist

Canonical CTO Matt Zimmerman stepping down

One of Canonical's founding members and current CTO (Chief Technology Officer), Matt Zimmerman, is to leave the company after seven years. In a statement published on the Canonical blog this morning, Matt spoke of his reason for leaving, saying that the 'the time is right for [him] to move on' and go in 'search of new challenges'. He will formally leave the position in June of this year.

Adobe on Creative Suite for Linux: "No plans"

The on-going campaign to persuade Adobe to release (at least parts) of their 'Creative Suite' software on Linux is beginning to resemble a game of tic-tac-toe: One second it appears to be going one way and then, slam, a big fat 'X' falls down, and the game is off in a different direction.
