The creator of flash-free desktop YouTube application 'Minutube' and stylish music player 'MiniTunes' has announced the release of a new application: MusicTube. Musictube is a mish-mash of the developers former two applications, and is designed to let you find, arrange and listen to whatever music you like - as long as it's on YouTube. The idea is similar to on-demand music streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora: you search for an artist or a track and, if it's there, you can play it.
The recently released 'Monospace' variant of the Ubuntu Font Family has been set as the default monospace font in Ubuntu 11.10.

Airtime - an open source application designed to make radio station management easier - has seen a new release with .deb packages available for Ubuntu. The award-winning software has been bumped to version 1.9.4, and along with a host of bug fixes, now includes handy packages for your favourite Debian based distribution to make installation and updating easy. Powering stations like London’s Resonance FM, Senegal’s West Africa Democracy Radio and Canada’s NationTalk, Airtime platforms have been receiving industry acclaim including a Knight-Batten Award for Innovations in Journalism. Airtime is also a finalist in the Packt Open Source Multimedia Software Awards 2011 alongside Blender, GIMP and Inkscape.
Long-time users of Ubuntu might recall that a handy 'Force Quit' applet was once available to add to the desktop panel, which made 'closing' misbehaving applications a cinch.
