As visually slick as Ubuntu’s new ALT+Tab switcher looks I will confess to missing the days of old where even the most mundane elements of the desktop were made needlessly blingy via a compiz plugin or tweak.

The developers behind Linux Deepin – the Chinese-language Ubuntu-based distribution – seem to have heard my nostalgic cries. Their work on a new look for Alt+Tab as the work-in-progress screenshot of their new Alt+Tab switcher interface shows: –

The extension, which will be made available for anyone using GNOME-Shell to install, is probably not the most ‘user intuitive’ way to swap between open apps.

But it sure does looks good.
