Ubuntu 12.04 Firmware Released for SmartQ T20 Tablet

Ubuntu firmware has been made available for the SmartQ T20 tablet by its manufacturer, Smart Devices. The Android-toting T20 ships with Android 4.0.4 preinstalled by default, but users can choose to flash Ubuntu 12.04 on to their devices by downloading the newly released firmware.

Mass-Market Games Engine ‘Unity3D’ To Support Linux

The viability of Linux as a gaming platform continues to grow, with today's news that Unity 3D (no, not that one), one of the most popular games engines used by developers of all calibres, will be supporting Linux. The self-described 'intuitive and flexible development platform' allows games developers to "author once" but "deploy everywhere". This means games created in Unity 4 for Windows can, theoretically be exported to run on Linux, too.

Dell computers pre-loaded with Ubuntu are being rolled out across 850 retail stores in India. The move is the latest in a string of retail manoeuvres by Canonical and Dell, having arrived in 220 store across China late last year.
