Ubuntu One Bookmarks sync has been discontinued.

The feature, which allowed  users to sync their Firefox Bookmarks across Ubuntu systems via the Ubuntu One service, is no longer offered in Ubuntu 11.10.

The Ubuntu One team cite a number of reasons for the cessation, most of which pertain to the poor performance of the bookmarks sync feature in comparison to Ubuntu One’s other features such as File and Music streaming.

“We would like to apologise to those of you who have been affected by this,” the team write on the Ubuntu One blog. We have tried repeatedly to find a good fix, but alas to no avail.”

“This is mostly due to factors outside of our control and is burdened further by providers constantly changing their API’s, making it expensive and time consuming for us to maintain an old service that isn’t delivering much user value.”
