QMLSaver: digital clock screensaver

Notice: This post is more than a year old. It may be outdated.

Screensavers have long since peaked in popularity on the desktop.

This can be attributed to a number of reasons ranging from ‘tube burn‘ being a lessprescientworry these days; screensavers seen as a waste of energy; the ‘use of ‘distributed computing applications’ (such as Set@Home) taking over during idle time or applicable in Ubuntu at least, the naff, dated and corny screensavers shipped by default are just notdesirableto use. ‘Off’ has become the new screensaver…

Well, consider this post a strike back for the humble screensaver.

QMLSaver is a burning red digital clock screensaver that might check the naff and dated boxes, but most certainly ticks the ‘useful’ one too.

Easily installable in both Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 via PPA (just whack ‘ppa:prodoomman/qmlsaver’ into your Software Source, update and install ‘QMLSaver’.

Alternatively just downloaded the relevant .Deb package for your version of Ubuntu
