The OpenMW project is creating a new open source engine for The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind which will allow the game to run on Linux for the first time.

And they’ve just announced their 0.10.0 release.

Release highlights include:

  • NPC dialogue window (not functional yet)
  • Collisions with objects
  • FPS display
  • Various Portability Improvements

The video below is an overall tour of the new features in OpenMW 0.10.0.

The project already has a large number of developers working towards the next release, 0.11.0 which should be out in the coming weeks.

Though, the project is always looking for new developers, so if you can code in C++ and would love to be able play Morrowind on Ubuntu, please get involved!
