Talk about timing! Only a day or so back we crowned CoverGloobus one of our favourite applications of 2009 and today some exciting updates were announced! Aside from GloobusPreview’s sexy new look CoverGloobus got some love, too!

Docky Sync

The biggest and shiniest segment of todays news is undoubtedly Docky Sync. This allows CoverGloobus to, essentially, ‘sit’ on your dock showing art. Maybe not entirely necessary if you use Banshee’s Cover Art on Docky, but usefulif you use CoverGloobus.

Spotify

Muisc streaming service ‘Spotify’ bags a place amongst the latest changes as does a tab fetching feature.

The windows in which they appear  also now sport ‘GloobusPreview’ style buttons. +1 for consistency!

Install

These features are part of the next version of CoverGloobus and as such are under development. If you’re curious and brave you can install it from the CoverGloobus launchpad.

Firstly make sure you have bzr installed. If not, click here.

  • Open a terminal
  • bzr branch lp:covergloobus
  • cd covergloobus
  • ./autogen.sh
  • ./configure
  • make
  • sudo make install

You’ll find CoverGloobus in the Accessories menu.

Docky Sync

Right click > Configure and check ‘Enable covers on Docky’ to get art on the dock.
