If suspend and/or hibernate doesn’t work for you in Ubuntu – as, annoyingly, it doesn’t for many – then the following ‘how to’ guide may prove of use.

Weaved together from a script pasted on the Ubuntu Forums and some personal Joie de vivre on behalf of the guide author, the fix is a relatively simple one to apply – although not recommended for novices or those unsure of editing/creating files in System folders.

Whilst a lot of users are having success using the fix it’s not guaranteed to work for everyone, as the author of the guide cautions:

“Though I have thoroughly tested the script and it works for me, I do not guarantee it will work for you. So use it at your risk.”
