Popular download manager Tucan – pitched for use with online file sharing sites such as Mediafire, RapidShare and Megaupload – has added indicator-applet support in its latest alpha build, ahead of Ubuntu 11.04’s release this Thursday.

Tucan adds indicator applet

The current stable build of Tucan uses the ‘traditional’ panel notification area icon with menu for application control when minimised. In Ubuntu 11.04 the ‘traditional’ notification area has been partly phased out, with most applications effectively ‘banned’ from utilising it  (although there are ways around that).

With this in mind Tucan developers have added preliminary Indicator-Applet support to the unstable build of the application, ready for Natty users missing their Tucan fix to install.
