A new version of Ubuntu Netbook Edition optimized for ARM-based devices is due for release in July. Called ‘Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.7′ it will be based on Ubuntu 10.04.
A video, showing off Ubuntu NBE 10.7 on a prototype Pegatron designed, Freescale i.MX51 powered netbook, has shuffled up on the internet thanks, once again, to the guys at ArmDevices.net
Whilst there is nothing earth-shatteringly new or revelatory to witness in the OS in the video itself – other than Ubuntu rocking out slickly on ARM with the’2D’ version of the netbook launcher – the Canonical representative (I didn’t catch his name) offers some great insights into Ubuntu on ARM & where it may be heading….
