Ubuntu ‘App Center’ Renamed ‘Ubuntu Software Store’

Notice: This post is more than a year old. It may be outdated.

Canonical yesterday unveiled the Ubuntu Software Store, finally giving a name, and a face, to the integration of Add/Remove, Synaptic, and other package tools due in the upcoming release of Karmic Koala.

Tech site Phoronix showed off some screenshots yesterday which, while a little ‘basic’ looking, certainly show the direction that the newly renamed ‘AppCentre’ is going in.

Below I’ve posted a few of the screenshots with the accompanying mock-up designs – just to see what’s been implemented in this first version and what’s obviously still to come! You can find a few more screenshots over @ Phoronix’s site.
