One week left! Are you excited already? The release candidate is going to get out soon and we will have days full of testing the installation on all architectures, in all kinds of installations scenarios. If you want to help out with the testing, it will be much appreciated. So what's still happening? It's interesting to note that still quite a number of fixes is going in. Also has the planning for the 12.04 ("Precise Pangolin") cycle been started. Matthias Klose sent out an email about the preparation of the P-cycle archive: the wiki page lists a number of significant changes for 'precise', like updates to gcc, binutils, swig and other core components and dropping python2.6.

After several months of work, the Ubuntu Developer Portal aims to help new developers get familiar with the technologies, frameworks and process for developing rich applications for the Ubuntu platform. It features help videos, links to resources, and instructions on how to get started, and for developers with an application already published in the Software Center, a dashboard for tracking downloads or sales, and allows information for the application (like the screenshot, description, name) to be altered.

Last week was Ubuntu Developer Week, one week full of tutorials, workshops and presentations with the intention of explaining better what's going on in the world of Ubuntu development, to ask, learn, get to know and enjoy. These weeks are always over much too quickly, but the good news is, 1) we have logs of all the sessions, their questions and answers (links below) and 2) there's going to be another one next cycle! After last years Debian Developer conference in NYC (DebConf10) this years conference, DebConf11 will be held in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 24th to 30th July. Of course besides developers, among the attendees you'll be able to see many well known faces from Open Source/Linux world, as well as representatives from some of the leading companies from this sector.
