A First Look at New Ubuntu Laptops and PCs from CTL

I had the opportunity yesterday to visit CTL Corp located in Portland, Oregon and sit down with Erik Stromquist, Executive VP and COO and Michael Tupper, Director of Business Development. The purpose of the visit was to get a highlight of CTL Corp's new Ubuntu Product initiative - and I was beyond excited.

Thanks Microsoft! Play ‘Cut The Rope’ in Chrome, Firefox

Microsoft and game developers zeptolab unveiled a browser-based version of the cult (and cute) mobile game 'Cut The Rope' during this weeks CES event in Las Vegas. The team-up is designed to show off Internet Explorer 9's "awesome" Javascript and HTML5 capabilities. As Microsoft choose to see the game crafted to open standards you don't actually have to use IE to play the game it. Oh no. Cut The Rope works just as well in Google Chrome, Chromium, Firefox... etc on Ubuntu.

Ubuntu TV Revealed at CES 2012

Ubuntu TV has been unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, after Jane Silber announced Canonical would have something to show last week. The interface will look very familiar for Unity users, as it appears to simply be an Ubuntu installation running with some custom Unity lenses for browsing movies, TV Shows, music, watching YouTube, and more.

New Flickr/Shotwell Photo Lens Seeks Testers

A new photo-orientated Lens for Unity that lets you browse through your Shotwell library and online Flickr collection is seeking testers. The 'Photo Lens' adds an easy-to-access photo-centric pane to your Unity Dash that's powered by two 'Scopes' (search backends) - one for Ubuntu's default photo app Shotwell, and the other for popular online photo service Flickr.
