An update to the incredibly useful Extension Manager app is rolling out on Flathub.

Version 0.3 of this one-stop-shop for finding, installing, configuring, updating, and removing GNOME extensions on GNOME Shell intros a set of changes that, together, bolster the app’s capabilities.

First up, the app gains an all-new, GNOME-friendly icon:

Plus, this version of the app let you to read user reviews and see star ratings on extension listing pages — a fast and effective way to discover if an extension is as good as its blurb suggests:

When you come across an ‘unsupported’ extension (that is, an extension not listed as being compatible with your version of GNOME Shell) Extension Manager 0.3 lets you install it anyway:

In addition, the app is said to handle errors and out-of-date extensions ‘better’ than it did before. It also benefits from performance and stability fixes.

As mentioned in our initial article, Extension Manager is a must-have utility if you’re all-in on GNOME extensions, regardless of your desktop environment or distro of choice. But this tool is especially useful for those using Ubuntu 21.10 or later as the default Firefox Snap build (still) won’t let you install GNOME Extension through it.

With this app you don’t even need a browser at all; just open it, browse extensions, install them, configure them, and so on.

Extension Manager is free, open source software. Source code is up on Github, and the app available to install from Flathub (or AUR, if you swing that way).
