The Librem 14 succeeds the company’s Librem 13 line of notebooks.
Purism say the new model was designed using feedback garnered from creating and selling the previous four generations.
Headline feature of this new notebook (if you haven’t guessed yet) is the 14-inch screen.
But despite an inch-long increase in screen size the overall “footprint” of the laptop remains exactly the same as the Librem 13.
How? Thinner bezels!
You can see a neater overview of the Librem 14 specs in the info box opposite (if you’re reading from a feed reader, a scraper site, or AMP you won’t see it).
Suffice to say it’s a beast based around a six-core Intel Core i7-10710U (1.10 GHz, 4.70 GHz turbo boost) processor.
It can be equipped with up to 32 GB RAM, has ample slots for additional storage, and supports PureBoot, Purism’s high security boot firmware.
Finally, as a company famed for its security-first approach, you won’t be surprised to learn the Librem 14 comes with physical hardware kill switches to shut off Wi-Fi, webcam, and microphone.
“I am beyond excited to see the Librem laptop journey arrive at the build quality and specifications in the Librem 14,” Todd Weaver, CEO and founder of says of the device.
“This fifth version of our line is the culmination of our dream device rolled into a powerful professional laptop. We have invested heavily so every customer will be proud to carry our laptops, and the Librem 14 will be the best one yet.”
The Librem 14 is available to preorder from today (July 2) with “early bird” pricing shaving a cool $300 on the base model’s retail price of $1,499. Shipping is expected to commence in Q4 2020.
