The latest update of the Ubuntu One Files app for Android adds a couple of new options.

Support for quickly sharing uploaded files through Gmail, Twitter, Facebook and other popular social apps available on Android been added, so has the ability to cancel file uploads and downloads (in case you change you mind about something).

However, the headline ‘feature’ of in the new version is support for ‘auto-uploading’ photos taken with Instagram, the phenomenally popular photo-based social network.

The feature is optional, but when enabled Ubuntu One Files automatically backs up copies of your instagram images to your Ubuntu One account. This way, that zany Lomo-filtered shot of your Converse shoes will be accessible on your desktop, tablet and or anywhere else you use Ubuntu One.

Other new features added in the update: –

  • Settings to help save power/data costs
  • Specify auto-uploading behaviour
  • Ability to upload entire ‘galleries’

Ubuntu One Files for Android is free software, available to install on most modern Android devices straight from the Google Play Store.
