LibreOffice Won’t Ship With Global Menu By Default in 11.10

Notice: This post is more than a year old. It may be outdated.

LibreOffice in Ubuntu 11.10 will not†come with global menu support enabled by default.

Announcing the minor change via his blog, Canonical’s†BjŲrn Michaelsen cited ‘stabiltiy concerns’ as the main reason for disabling the add-on by default.

It’s a disappointing†but†perfectly understandable†decision†that will ensure users of LibreOffice in Ubuntu 11.10 benefit from a stable and†dependable office suite.

The package (“lo-menubar”) will remain easily installable from the Ubuntu Software Centre in Ubuntu 11.10 for those willing to use it.
