New Skype beta for Linux improves call quality, adds Skype Access

Notice: This post is more than a year old. It may be outdated.

A new beta release of internet telephony application Skype is available.

Skype 2.2 Beta for Linux brings improved call and video quality, support for multiple calls and introduces ‘Skype Access’ – an easy way to get on-line from half-a-million WiFi hotpots world wide using Skype credit – to Linux users.

Though 2.2 Beta is not the major upgrade many were expecting it’s nevertheless welcome. As shiny and exciting as new features can be Skype will always be judged on the quality of its calls and the parity of its access. This release certainly ups both of these.
