Visually impressive note-gathering application ‘The Board’ is now available for Ubuntu 11.04 users to install and test.

What is the board?

The official GNOME wiki page on The Board describes it as: –

“…a space for quickly placing daily records: photos, video, audio, text, and more. Think of it as a combination of a note-taking app, a photo and video booth, a photo album, a sketching board, and a digital scrapbook.”

Testing the board

Whilst The Board isn’t quite ready for everyday use its developer, Lucas Rocha, is keen for cautious Ubuntu 11.04 users to test the application and provide ‘insightful’ feedback on the progress so far.

The official Board PPA, which is Ubuntu 11.04 only, can be added using the command below: –

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:the-board-team/dev-snapshots
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install the-board

Lucas Rocha notes that there are currently a few issues with running The Board in Unity including a blurred icon on panel and no status icon.
