Apt-Linker for Google Chrome automatically turns “apt-get install” commands in online guides and tutorials into clickable apturl links for easy installation of apps in Ubuntu.
I can admit to not creating clickable apt:urls where I should. For moments such as these – and where software is already available through your software sources – it means I can forget: ‘sudo apt-get install package_name’ links are automatically turned into apt:urls ready to click.
You will still need to add a third party PPA where necessary, but for applications already present in the Software Centre things will work automagically.
Install the extension @ chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oljmaangfgmmokjpnojhfblppgeijikp# and refresh this page. The command below will become ‘clickable’.
- sudo apt-get install gedit
