We’re big fans of the AppImage project – the distro-agnostic application packaging method that allows applications to run with no installation required – so we’re stoked to see the following project by George Dumitrescu adding to it.
‘App Thumbnailer’ takes the standard ‘file’ image (a purple diamond shaped icon, see below) and replaces it with an application icon from within the AppImage itself. We featured a similar project a few weeks back for .deb files which added application icons to the uniform .deb icon where possible.
