With Banshee heading to default status in Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition the possibility of pre-enabling the very slick MeeGo interface as standard is now under review. As such you may want to try it out yourself.

The MeeGo Banshee interface presents users with a spacious & consciously designed layout that best run in full screen.

As much needless space (“chrome”) has been eliminated as possible rendering a very different – and dare I say better – look to one of the most popular Media players: –

Install Banshee MeeGo interface in Ubuntu 10.04

Installing the Banshee MeeGo Interface in Ubuntu 10.04 requires the use of the Banshee Unstable PPA. Do not use this PPA if you are easily scared by occasional crashes.

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/banshee-unstable
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install banshee banshee-meego

Now when you run Banshee you will see two windows – a fullscreen ‘regular looking banshee’ and the Meego banshee window. Press the very large cross on the fullscreen Banshee and you’ll be left with the Meego interface.
