Panflute is a GNOME panel applet for controlling music playback and displaying playback information.

The successor to the popular GNOME Music Applet, Panflute boasts many features its predecessor doesn’t including a seek bar and support for more players.

It even works with new players such as Guayadeque and the layout of buttons is wholly configurable. Want pause and the seekbar only? No problem. Just want a timer? Sure thing.

Install
Panflute can be installed from its very own PPA. This method is recommended for once enabled you’ll always remain up-to-date.

Karmic users can run

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kuliniew/ppa
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install panflute-applet

Jaunty users can add the PPA manually following the instructions on the PPA site @ launchpad.net/~kuliniew/+archive/ppa

to remove:

  • sudo apt-get remove panflute-applet
