Launch OpenOffice Apps Faster

Notice: This post is more than a year old. It may be outdated.

If you use OpenOffice you may have noticed the rather frustrating start-up times each time you launch it.

I came across this nifty tweak today which speeds up the length of time it takes for OpenOffice to launch.

Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope - Gnome - Startup Applications Preferences

  1. Open up System, Preferences, Startup Applications and click ‘add’ to add a new entry.
  2. In the Command field, type openoffice –nodefault –nologo
  3. Close and reboot.

Starting any application in the future will now happen in an almost instant fashion.
