As we mentioned last week, German magazine ‘Der Spiegel’ has been running a series of ‘Getting started with Linux’ articles on their website.

Following on from the first article, which talked about the security benefits of Linux over Windows, come the final two parts.

The second part provides readers with a step by step guide on how to try/install Ubuntu via three methods: direct install; LiveCD; installation through Windows via WUBI.

The third and final part is titled “First Steps“. It’s much shorter than the two preceding articles and comes with a downloadable .PDF file to act as an approachable navigator in how to use the Unity desktop and Ubuntu’s core features.

If you know a German speaking user who might benefit from trying Ubuntu then send them a link to the online series and see how they get on. At the least they will become aware of Linux, Ubuntu and that there are additional, more secure computing options out there waiting to be used…
