Behold Ubuntu’s Power Cog

The Device Menu in Ubuntu 11.10 has acquired a new look icon…

The ‘Power Cog’ icon is a visual meld of ‘Settings’ and ‘Power’ icons, perfectly representing the Device Menu it opens.

The Device Menu consists of three key areas: –

  • A Settings area with links to various system settings (Bluetooth, Monitor, System Updates, etc)
  • A Devices Area listing attached devices (Webcam, USB, etc)
  • A Session section with links for logging out, off and suspending

A few folk have commented that it looks like a flower or the spurs from a cowboy boot. I just think it looks pretty neat, much like the new menu it represents.
