A short and sweet update: Firefox will be remaining the default web browser for Ubuntu 11.10.
A session had been mooted on discussing the possibility of replacing it with Chromium. This was cancelled and, from our ears on the ground, Firefox will be remaining as the default browser.
This isn’t a massive surprise. Despite recent moves in Chromium to add Ubuntu-specific support – Global menu, Unity launcher support, etc – Firefox is still the world most popular open source browser and has, since Ubuntu’s inception, been the default.
