A new development release of soon-to-be Ubuntu’s default music player Banshee was released a few days back.
In preparation of the move to default 1.9.1 sees the Ubuntu One Music Store and Ubuntu SoundMenu extensions moved from the Banshee Community Extensions package and into the default set of Banshee extensions.
1.9.1 also sees the following new additions alongside bugfixes: –
- Reworked podcast ‘edit’ dialog
- Added support for embedded and external subtitles
- Support for the LG Ally cell/mobile phone
- Podcast browser returns
- ‘Recently Played’ default smart playlist

As this is a development snapshot it is not available to install via the Stable PPA. It is, however, available in the Banshee Daily Builds PPA @ ppa:banshee-team/banshee-daily
