Love Firefox enough to drop $200 on a branded keyboard? Tough, it’s sold it1.

It’s a full-sized, 108-key mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches, and has a unique keycap colour scheme and branding: a Firefox logo on the super/meta key and new Firefox mascot Kit on Esc. It works wired, via Bluetooth or 2.4g wireless.

“Clean, clicky and finished in Firefox colors”, reads the Mozilla Store description, “this is a keyboard that looks good, feels better and sneaks in a little personality where you least expect it” (unaware the personality is exactly where one would expect it: on the keys).

The new Mozilla Store has been online for a while – now on a .com, not .org like the old merch shops, which presumably mean profit goes to the corporate side, not the non-profit – but I don’t check it regularly enough to notice new items drop.

Seems others did; the keyboard, admittedly a more compelling item than most, sold through, despite its $198 price tag (minus shipping and tax) and with scant detail on its materials, build quality, warranty or even many photos.

But there is zany cat product image, so…

Will it come back in to store? Mozilla has said “any items that become sold out should be available again”, so if you’ve longed for a Firefox-branded mechanical keyboard, keep tabs on the store.

Other merch on the Mozilla Store including t-shirts, caps, socks2 and stickers.

And plushies of Kit are coming to the store soon. I imagine those will also sell out fast, so if you think you’d like one gathering a toupee of dust in the corner of your home office, make a note to check the store often – and let me know if they land…

…No reason.

  1. This is the second “it’s out, but sold out” I’ve written in a week – stop buying things so fast, people. ↩︎
  2. Given the use of AI in some of the shop imagery, there’s even a chance you might get “Temu’d”on delivery day for free, and find your t-shirt is doll size, the socks are two different sizes or the cap is a photo printed on a piece of clear acrylic. ↩︎
