Look how small it is!

They often say big things come in small packages, a saying the latest mini PC from German computer retailer TUXEDO proves to be correct.

The TUXEDO Nano Pro (Gen 11) is a palm-sized computer that measures a mere a 110x118x48mm. Despite the petite proportions the device packs in powerful AMD Ryzen 4000U series processors, and has enough room for 2 RAM modules (up to 64GB) and 2 storage slots (1x M.2 and 1x 2.5-inch).

Basically this thing is a tech TARDIS.

Three processor choices are available: a quad-core AMD Ryzen 3 4300U; a 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U; and an octa-core AMD Ryzen 7 4800U.

These all come with energy-efficient integrated Radeon graphics of up to 8 GPU cores.

The base model comes with 8GB RAM but, as mentioned, you can fit this thing out with up to 64GB across two SO-DIMM slots.

A speedy 250GB Samsung 860 EVO M.2 SSD ships as standard in the the base model. Tuxedo do, naturally, offer a slew of additional configuration options up to 2TB. As mentioned, there’s also a second 2.5-inch SATA3 slot where you can attach further storage.

Oh, and don’t be put off by the thought of doing your own upgrades. The “sandwich design” of the Nano Pro makes it simple. You just pop the bottom plate off to easily access RAM and storage modules.

Easy access to expansion slots

Connectivity is catered for by an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 with Bluetooth 5.2 included. Ports provided feature a full-sized HDMI, full-size DisplayPort 1.2, two USB Type-C (with DisplayPort), three USB Type-A ports, and a pair of Gigabit ethernet LAN ports (1x 1 Gb & 1x 2.5 Gb).

And there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on the front of the device.

Overall, the TUXEDO Nano Pro (Gen 11) looks like a real pint-size powerhouse. I particularly like that it’s AMD based as most “NUC” style computers use Intel.

Sadly the price isn’t quite as tiny as the tech! The Nano Pro mini PC costs from €640. This is for a base config of AMD Ryzen 3 4300U, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD.

The device comes pre-loaded with TUXEDO_OS 20.04 LTS, though ‘vanilla’ versions of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and Ubuntu Budgie 20.04 LTS options are available if you’d prefer them (as is a Windows 10 licenses for extra wedge).

Something that’s pretty cute: buyers of the Nano Pro will also receive a TUXEDO Computers fan package. This includes Linux-themed posters, some pens, a writing pad, and some unspecified “seasonal goodies”.
