If you’re in the market for a powerful Linux laptop you definitely want to check out the new 9th generation Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition, announced today.
Intel’s 10th Generation Core U series sit at the heart of the refreshed notebook which, in its ‘developer edition’ guise, comes pre-loaded with Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS.
The Dell XPS 13 developer edition (7390) will be made available to buy in the United States, Canada and throughout Europe during September.
Dell plan to keep the previous Dell XPS 13 developer edition (9380), which it launched in January, on sale alongside the new ‘7390’ model.

Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition (7390) Specs include an Intel Core i5-10210U processor (quad-core) or i7-10710U processor (6 cores); Killer AX1650 (2×2) Wi-Fi; 13-inch InfinityEdge display with FHD and UHD resolutions; and up to 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM.
The updated model will also sport two Thunderbolt 3 ports, according to Dell’s Barton George.
While the first batch of the new XPS 13 developer editions are based around a 10th Generation Intel Core i5-10210U processor, but a swathe of additional models, based on other chips in the 10th Gen Core U series, will be offered starting October.
Dell say the expanded range will include i7 and additional i5 versions.
No word on international pricing for the updated models, but the US version is expected to start from $899.99. Do keep an eye on the XPS 13 pages in the “For Work” and “For Home” sections on the Dell website in your country.
