Elementary fans can now test the latest changes to the popular icon set via a ‘testing PPA’.
Elementary’s semi-iconic icon theme set is getting a overhaul in time for the next release of their Ubuntu-based OS.
Amongst the tweaked, redrawn and marginally altered icons are the following: –
- Better lighting and colour on icons
- Use of shape and color to differentiate between similar looking icons
- A raft of new ‘symbolic’ icons

The ‘testing’ in the PPA name should give a hint as to what to expect from this icon theme – which is not complete and remains a work in progress. But if you’re wearing your brave hat you can fnd the PPA details below.
Packages are provided for Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04. The PPA only contains the elementary icon theme – so no hidden surprises!
