We’re big fans of the AppImage project – the distro-agnostic application packaging method that allows applications to run on any distribution with no installation required – so we’re thrilled to learn that ‘App Thumbnailer’ – which takes the standard ‘file’ image (a purple diamond shaped icon, see below) and replaces it with an application icon from within the AppImage itself – finally has a PPA!
Install
Install the nifty tool quickly from a PPA is as easy as pie: –
- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:app-thumbnailer-team/ppa
- sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install app-thumbnailer
