Transmission 2.0 Released - new UI filters, features, fixes

Popular open-source BitTorrent client – and default Ubuntu torrent app – Transmission has updated to version 2.0.

This latest release sees several bugs fixed and a handful of new features including: –

Local peer Discovery
Optimised Download request based on available bandwidth
better handling of tracker 404 errors
intelligent decisions on peer connections
New GTK filter bar
New compact view
Ability to move multiple torrents at the same time
Netbook-friendly Properties screen

Transmission 2.0 won’t be updated in the Ubuntu repositories until Maverick so Lucid users wishing to upgrade will need to do so using the Transmission PPA: –

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:transmissionbt/beta

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
