Lubuntu Beta 3 released

Notice: This post is more than a year old. It may be outdated.

The latest beta release of Ubuntu based LXDE spin ‘Lubuntu’ has been made available.

This release is termed ‘Beta 3′ rather than ‘Release Candidate’ as with Ubuntu 10.04 due in part to Lubuntu not gaining “official” status as an Ubuntu derivative this cycle (see here for more on that). Due to this the Lubuntu team are taking more time to polish and tweak the OS before committing to a fixed release date.

Changes since Beta 2

Major changes since the last beta include the Lubunt-desktop PPA being added by default (to allow for updates of packages not contained within the official Ubuntu repositories) and the latest versions of libfm and file manager pcmanfm2.

Beta 3 also adds support for automatic login.
