If you’re one of the many Ubuntu 10.04 LTS testers saddened that the Gmail docklet in Docky is not functioning – be saddened no more!
Ubuntu’s developers have fixed the issue that broke integration between Docky and the GNOME Keyring. This was due to “incompatible changes to gnome-keyring’s previously stable API/ABI” has been resolved, per the bug report.
With fixes in place, you will once again be able to glean the unread count for Google’s popular free webmail provider right on your desktop, in Docky, albeit only if you add the Gmail docklet of course.
anyone else sampling the Lucid Lynx ahead of its official stable release next month (April 2010) can once again be bugged senseless by (mostly spam) e-mails, albeit bugged in an inimitable Docky-style.
Expect the update to roll in next few days. If you don’t currently use Docky, and want to, you can install it from the Ubuntu repos or add the official PPA. Docky is a Mono app, so if you’re a sensitive FOSS type you may not want to use it.
