Pino is a fantastic little twitter application. We’ve blogged about it many times previously and know many of you love it.

One thing that still comes up as an ‘issue’ whenever we blog about it is the ‘comic book’ style tray icon it uses. It’s some kind of mule in a skirt or something and whilst we appreciate that it gives Pino an identity in a sea of other twitter clients it is, perhaps, the wrong type of icon to go all “self-expressive” on. That and it looks so out of place on my panel i keep fearing i’ve installed some Windows desktop hula girl.

Quite frankly it sucks and you probably think it sucks as well, so below are some awesome replacement icons that scream ‘Twitter’ and not ‘Bambi in a frock’.

Pino Humanity Icon
This icon works best if you’re using the Humanity icon set (AKA Ubuntu’s default icon set).

The icon changes to a blue ‘t’ to alert you to new updates/@replies.
