GNOME 3.22 is set to be released on September 21, 2016.
The date is listed in the draft release schedule for the next major version of the GNOME desktop.
Therefore the dates listed below are still subject to change — we’ll update this post with any adjustments if any emerge.
GNOME 3.22 will be the next major stable release and follows the release of GNOME 3.20 earlier this month, on March 23.
Among the changes currently pencilled in are improvements to Calendar (including week view, agenda view and support for calendar file types), and Web (including pop-up blocker, social media button blocking and support for user scripts).
GNOME 3.22 Release Schedule
The GNOME 3.22 development cycle begins with the launch of the first development milestone, GNOME 3.21.1, which is released to testers and developers on April 27, 2016.
GNOME 3.21.2 is set to follow on May 25, GNOME 3.21.3 on June 22, and GNOME 3.21.4 on July 20, 2016:
- GNOME 3.21.1 – April 27
- GNOME 3.21.2 – May 25
- GNOME 3.21.3 – June 22
- GNOME 3.21.4 – July 20
The 2016 GUADEC conference takes place in Karlsruhe, Germany between August 12 to 14.
This annual meeting of the GNOME developer community is promptly followed by the first public beta of GNOME 3.22 on August 17.
Other release dates include:
- GNOME 3.22 Beta 1 – August 17
- GNOME 3.22 Beta 2 – August 31
- GNOME 3.22 RC – September 14
The final stable release date is tentatively pencilled in for:
- GNOME 3.22 Final – September 21
This is to be followed by the first point release, GNOME 3.22.1, on October 12, 2016.
