The Ubuntu 17.04 default wallpaper has been revealed!
And it will surprise absolutely nobody with a keen interest in the design of Ubuntu that the wallpaper upholds tradition of being an iterative evolution of the previous release’s design.
Every major Ubuntu release ships with a new desktop background and Ubuntu 17.04 ‘Zesty Zapus’ is no exception. This is what millions of avid Ubuntu enthusiasts will be staring at come April 13:

Hardly revolutionary, but firmly in keeping with what we’ve come to expect from Ubuntu.

The most popular default Ubuntu wallpaper to date remains that of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS ‘Hardy Heron’. Over 15,000 people took our Ubuntu at 10 survey a few years back, and it was voted best design by considerable margin.
