One of the most popular themes for GNOME, Elementary theme, has finally landed itself in a PPA so that users may stay up-to-date with the latest tweaks, changes and improvements to the already flawless theme.
PPA
The PPA comes pre-packed with most facets needed for a complete ‘Elementary’ experience with both the GTK (called eGTK) and the icon set included (which may look oddly familiar to Ubuntu Karmic users… ).
You can add the PPA via: –
https://launchpad.net/~elementaryart/+archive/ppa
or through the terminal using: –
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementaryart
followed by
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install elementary-theme elementary-icon-theme
Elementary Desktop
Users wishing for a more complete Elementary experience may install the ‘Elementary Desktop’ – a package containing the themes as well as various desktop and compiz tweaks.
You can find this PPA @: –
https://launchpad.net/~elementaryart/+archive/elementarydesktop
or using the terminal: –
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:elementaryart/elementarydesktop
and install using: –
sudo apt-get install elementary-desktop
and then running: –
/usr/share/elementary-desktop/configure.sh
Note that the elementary-desktop package will install the Midori web browser, Docky and various other usability and visual tweaks. Install in a guest session if you just want to test it out.
