lxdeThe final final version of Lubuntu 10.04 has been released. Touted as ‘stable beta’ by the Lubuntu developers and coming some 105 days after the first Alpha Lubuntu marks the first release-proper of an LXDE based Ubuntu spin.

Features

Lubuntu 10.04 Lubuntu is a Ubuntu variant using the LXDE desktop. It’s designed to be a lightweight and easy-to-use desktop environment.

Some of Lubuntu’s features and applications include: –

  • Lightweight LXDE desktop
  • Chromium, the open-source version of Google Chrome, is the default browser
  • Sylpheed is the default e-mail client
  • Pidgin is installed for IM
  • It is based on Ubuntu 10.04
  • Cheese, Transmission and Gnome-MPlayer are also pre-installed
