The first stable release of GNOME Media Player – formally GNOME VLC – is now available.

This release sees the fresh-faced newcomer gain support for 3 engines (VLC, Xine and GStreamer) for playing media, with the option to easily switch ad-hoc between them.

This release is available to install from the GNOME Media Player development PPA, with packages available for both Karmic and Lucid.

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-media-player-development/development
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gnome-media-player
