Humanity Style Icon: The Main Ubuntu Menu Logo

Notice: This post is more than a year old. It may be outdated.

This icon will replace the current colourful Ubuntu logo icon in the top left with a monochrome Humanity style one. Perhaps an humanity icon too far? Not to me!

You can get it @

  • Hit ALT+F2
  • Enter: “gksudo nautilus /usr/share/icons/Humanity/places/24″
  • Make a backup of the current icon (rename it to start-here-original.svg, for example.)
  • Move the new icon across to the folder
  • Right click it and choose ‘properties’
  • Go to the ‘Permissions’ tab and enter the following: –
  • Owner access = “Read and Write”
  • Group access = “Read-only”
  • Others access = “Read-only”
  • Open ALT+F2 again
  • Enter: “killall gnome-panel”
  • Enjoy!
