‘Pidgin Music Tracker’ is a small plug-in for Pidgin that will display your currently playing track as your status for all your contacts to see!
Simply download the .deb file, double click, select install and et voila! Restart Pidgin, go to the plugins menu and check the ‘MusicTracker’ box. Now as you play a track in a supported player (pretty much any Linux music player, including songbird!) your contacts will be able to see what you’re listening to! Don’t blame me if your secret ‘Spice Girls’ obsession gets out….
