German computer company Cirrus7 has given its award-winning desktop PC an Intel Haswell refresh.
All models of the Nimbus, which won the prestigious ‘Red Dot’ design award earlier in the year, get a speed bump but with no increase in price.
At its cheapest, the €528 base model now features:
- Intel Celeron Processor G1840 @ 2.8GHz (dual core)
- 4GB RAM
- 128GB SSD
- Intel HD Integrated Graphics
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Additional processor options also get a spec boost, and span the Intel Core i3-4350T @ 3.10 GHz (+€99) through to the Intel Core i7-4790T @ 2.7GHz (+€260).
Like any PC company worth its silicon, Cirrus7 let you customise and configure each component of the Nimbus individually. Add 16GB RAM, set up a RAID array of 1TB SSDs and select from a range of operating systems if Ubuntu 14.04 LTS isn’t your thing.
Arguably the best looking PC, if not the most well known, the Nimbus features an innovative custom-designed chassis made of stacked laser-cut aluminium slats. This creates a case that doesn’t just look great, but doubles up as a passive-cooling heatsink, too.
