Late last month Ubuntu computer makers System76 gave popular photography YouTuber SnapChick one of their meaty Gazelle Professional laptops to play with – but how is she getting on?

Like a duck to water, it seems!

Setting up Ubuntu

Setting up Ubuntu posed zero problems for her. As someone who hasn’t (for the shame) ever bought a device with Ubuntu on, getting to see the “OEM” set-up side of things is interesting.

Review of the Gazelle

As well as casting her knowledgeable eyes over Ubuntu’s photography app offerings – such as Shotwell, Darktable and The GIMP – SnapChick has also been editing her blog videos with OpenShot.

In light of the pro-equipment she uses to shoot her vlogs, it’s a good job that System76 sent her something with enough grunt to handle editing it.

Positive

If you’re reading this website then chances are you’re already aware that Ubuntu isn’t exactly difficult to use. But I can’t help but get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when I see “not we’s” like SnapChick adapt to Ubuntu with such ease.

Here’s hoping she sticks with it!
