A new version of super-slick image utility ‘Rapid Photo Downloader‘ developed into release-land a few days back.
The update sees a new netbook-friendly main window, improved translations, and now shows the amount of free space in the targeted download directory directly on the status bar (see image right).

If you use this applications official PPA chances are you have already received this update (and if you haven’t, go check).
But if you don’t have the PPA added, you should: it’s the best way to install the app in Ubuntu 9.10 and above and ensure you get future updates as and when they are released.
To add the Rapid Photo Downloader PPA to Ubuntu first open a new Terminal window and then run each of the following commands in turn, entering your user password when prompted:

- sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dlynch3/ppa
- sudo apt-get update
- sudo apt-get install rapid-photo-downloader
